Feeling good about yourself is what makes you get up and go in life! It pushes you to achieve your dreams and goals, and makes your life more fulfilling and meaningful. If you really want to feel good about yourself and your life then there are some simple things that you can do to start experiencing that feeling every day.
Be Kind To Others – Feeling good about yourself starts with feeling good about the way you treat other people. If you are miserable towards other people, put them down, make them feel bad, or ruin their day, the effects of those actions rub off on the way you feel about yourself. But if you make other people's days brighter just by being in them, then you will naturally feel good about yourself and what you are contributing to this world.
Give others complements about their appearance or abilities. Listen to someone who needs an ear to talk to. Help someone accomplish something they are having problems with. Be someone they will look fondly at when they think about you.
Surround Yourself with Positive People – The people around you directly influence how you feel about yourself. If you are surrounded by negative people, then you will be brought down with them. But if you surround yourself with positive people, then you will feel better about life and yourself.
There will be more laughter, more positive insights, more positive feedback about yourself, and more help to move you forward when positive people are in your life. So surround yourself with people who make you feel good about life, and who view this world with an upbeat outlook.
Use Positive Affirmations – Our thoughts affect our feelings, and consequently affect our outlook on ourselves. If you are in a negative frame of mind then you will start to experience negative emotions like worry, regret, self-pity, low self-confidence, and a host of other negative emotions. Those thoughts can become beliefs if you let them hang around too long.
Fortunately positive thoughts can become beliefs as well, and those thoughts make you feel much better than their negative counterparts. So affirm positive things to yourself daily. Tell yourself how great you are and how much you have to offer this world. Focus on your positive traits and abilities and you will find that you will start to really believe what you are thinking, and you will start to really feel really good about yourself.
Be Present – One of the biggest things you can do to feel good yourself is to be in the present. If you are focused on the ‘mistakes' you have made in the past, or the ‘challenges' you foresee in the future then you are not allowing yourself to feel good about what you are doing right now.
The problem is we tend to focus on negative situations that have happened or could happen in the future. How can you feel good right now in this moment when you are always focused on the past or present? It's impossible! The only way to feel good right now is to be aware of this moment! So try keeping yourself in the now, and make it the best moment you can possibly make it.
This will not only result in you feeling good right now, but it will also affect the way you feel about your past moments, and it will allow you to not worry about your future moments, because they will always be only moments that you have made the best of, or will make the best of, in the present.
